After a welcome from Epping Town Mayor councillor Christine Burgess at midday, the Epping Forest Band will be playing (12.05pm) with the Epping Primary School Choir singing at 12.45pm.

The Harmonix Choir will be singing at 1.15pm, Ivy Chimneys Primary School Choir at 1.45pm with the bells at St John's Church rung at 2.20pm.

The entertainment continues with Rock Choir at 3pm and singer Martin Bell at 3.45pm.

The Christmas Tree lights at the Piazza will be officially switched on by the Town Mayor at 4pm.

The Christmas Market is run alongside the Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Church which opens at 1pm on Friday (December 1) and continues on Saturday and Sunday.

Santa will be in his Grotto at Epping Fire Station from 10am on Saturday while Epping Library, on St Johns Road, will be hosting Christmas crafts, storytelling sessions, and a visit by therapy dogs.

Side attractions on the High Street include the Grinch (11am to noon) and Mickey Mouse and Olaf from Frozen between noon and 4pm. There will also be face painting in the High Street.

Funky Monk Epping Restaurant and Rooms has kindly agreed to sponsor the Christmas Market and Epping Town Council is very grateful for its support.

Ryan Mason, from Funky Monk, said: “We are happy to support the Epping Christmas Market. What a wonderful community event to be involved with and we are looking forward to the festivities.”

Epping Town Council asks High Street businesses to support the event and join in the festive season by, for example, extending opening hours, giving out free samples, offering a present wrapping service or offering a promotional discount on the day.

During the day, Epping Town Mayor councillor Christine Burgess will announce the winner of the Audrey Rose Cup, presented to the business judged to have the most Christmassy window display.
