The Blue Boar is an established beautiful Boutique Bar, Restaurant and Hotel nestled in the village of Abridge, Essex.

Located in the Roding Valley between the market towns of Epping and Loughton and with easy access to the M11 and M25, Abridge has always been a focal point for travellers and a stopping off point for those seeking food and drink or a place to stay. Abridge is named for its important crossing point on the River Roding. The Blue Boar was re-opened March 2014 after an extensive refurbishment creating an open and more inviting space, with a stylish and trendy ambience combined with a welcoming atmosphere.

The well designed bar at The Blue Boar offers the perfect setting to unwind with its comfortable booth seating and cosy and tasteful arrangement. The extensive drinks menu includes a large selection of lagers, real ales, beers, luxury spirits, champagne and fine wines from around the world. We can offer a fine & extensive list of cocktails.

Experience the tasty food of The Blue Boar, with its well-balanced modern menu prepared for you by executive chef Richard Farthing and his team, accompanied by friendly service from the front of house team. The open kitchen is one of the spectacular features of this attractive and palatable restaurant as well as "Table 50" the chic private dining room for that special occasion  and modern vibrant aura that it occupies. Try our celebration room for larger parties. The mouth-watering food and extensive choice excels expectations and is sure to please all. It will undoubtedly be an eatery you will visit frequently and due to its popularity, and value for money, it employs a buzzing and warm hearted vibe.

Please note; Our smallest customers take up the most space! Should you need a hichair or a space for a pram, please mention this at the point of booking, Thank you. (please note children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the restaurant after 7pm on a Friday or Saturday)

All of our various menus are available in the bar area as well as the restaurant.

Friday night is the Blue Boar DJ party night. Sundays we have live music.  So why not come and relax over a Pimms, cocktail or an ice-cold beer and listen to some soulful grooves with our resident musicians.

Private dining.  If you are planning a birthday, special occasion or perhaps a business, club meeting or funeral The Blue Boar is the ideal location. Your event can be held in our spacious restaurant or alternatively the celebration room or our luxurious table 50 area which offers a more private dining experience.  With capabilities to cater for anything from 10 to 300 guests the Blue Boar really is the ideal location for any occasion no matter how big or small. With the option of three buffet templates to choose from at the Blue Boar there really is something for everyone, or feel free to call and talk to our events manager and we will get the chefs to design your very own exclusive menu. 

The Blue Boar Hotel is a chic, boutique style establishment offering six individually designed deluxe double, en-suite rooms. All rooms come with king size beds as standard and are finished with contemporary, bespoke details.
