Glass fusing classes - pendants. Course at Bedford House Community Association, Buckhurst Hill.

About

Glass Pendants / Fusing Craft Course

Bedford House Community Association, 4 Westbury Road, Buckhurst Hill

Starts 23rd January

An 8 week course on Wednesday evenings, 7 to 9.30pm

Course fee £110

The course covers the basics of fusing by looking at glass compatibility, transparent and opaque colour (using sheet glass and frits), and types of fuses: full, contour and tack. We will also be using kiln paper/rope for both holes and slumps, glue, clay moulds and cold working to finish off pieces.

We begin by making full fused glass pendants, other things that can be made are earrings, cuff links & light catchers or small hanging pieces and in the last few weeks a soap or ring dish. Work will be fired every week for each student.

Please note the glass work you can do in this class is small scale jewellery and hand held size pieces.

Just bring an apron/old shirt, a notebook and pencil, and enthusiasm!

Material costs

Whilst you are working with small jewellery items the cost of the glass is included in the course. If you want to purchase specific colours or extra frits or sheet glass for ring dishes I will advise you where to buy these from. Also you will need to purchase additional thongs and bails for any extra pendants you may make and if making earrings or cuff links the findings for those can be bought on the internet too.

Course tutor is Pippa Davismoon
