Hedgehog Day at GreenAcres Burial Park North Weald

Wednesday 31st May from 11am to 1pm.

Come and explore the life of a hedgehog. Enjoy some hedgehog inspired games, learn how to make your garden more hedghog friendly and what sort of feed will encourage them to visit.

Booking is essential - call 01992 564224. In case of bad weather, the event may be cancelled.

Cost is £3 per child (4 to 11 years old). All children must be accompained by an adult.

About Countrycare

Epping Forest Countrycare is Epping Forest District Council’s award winning Countryside Management Service. It is the key resource for advice, information and practical assistance on the countryside, nature conservation and wildlife law. Countrycare undertakes a wide variety of community-based activities and coordinates a regular programme of practical conservation work. From coppicing trees to planting new ones, from dredging ponds to creating new ones, from planting a hedge to laying it, building countryside furniture, path maintenance and habitat creation, Countrycare and its happy band of volunteers gets stuck in. Countrycare enables children to discover the countryside and learn about their environment and holds regular events to help raise awareness and inform the community.

Road Directions

GreenAcres Epping Forest is easily accessible, the park is located at North Weald, close to the M11.

Approaching the park from the M11 – exit at junction 7 and take the A414 (Canes Lane), following the signs to North Weald. At the junction with the B181 (High Road) turn right and continue to North Weald where you will find Kiln Road second on your left after the Kings Head public house. The entrance to the Park is under the railway bridge on the right hand side of the road.

Approaching the park from the Chelmsford area – take the A414 signposted Harlow. Continue on through Ongar until you reach the Talbot roundabout, junction with the B181 signposted North Weald. Turn left onto the B181, through the village. After passing the Kings Head public house on your left, cross the mini roundabout and Kiln Road is the next turning on the left. The entrance to the Park is under the railway bridge on the right hand side of the road.

Approaching the park from Epping – at the north end of the town, turn right at St. Margaret’s traffic lights onto the B181 (signposted North Weald). Continue to North Weald, passing the golf course on your right. As you approach the mini roundabout, take the right hand turn just beforehand into Kiln Road. The entrance to the Park is under the railway bridge on the right hand side of the road.

Parking & Visitor Access – There is ample space for car parking at GreenAcres Epping Forest, as well as parking for coaches, bikes and motorcycles. Disabled parking spaces are available near the buildings. All buildings have disabled access and facilities and there are electric buggies available to transport visitors with restricted mobility around the woodland.

Public Transport Directions

Public Transport – The park is easily accessible by public transport. The nearest tube station is Epping, which is located at the end of the central line.

There is a taxi rank outside the station, or alternatively buses run every 30 minutes and will take you from the station and into North Weald. You will need to get on the bus heading to Brentwood or sign posted Ongar 2 Brewers. Do not get on the bus signposted to Harlow. Epping station is approximately 3 miles from the Park.

Please be aware that the park has a long driveway of approximately 600 metres.
