The Black Bull in Fyfield is a family run pub set in the beautiful Essex countryside, it is a grade 2 listed building dating back to the 1400s.

We offer you the warmest welcome in traditional surroundings. Relax in front of our open log fires or enjoy spectacular views of rolling countryside and the River Roding from our large garden area.

We take pride in offering freshly cooked food to order often using locally sourced produce such as game, pigeon and rabbit, with all our fish fresh from Billingsgate Market selected by our chef. An a la carte menu is available both at lunchtime and in the evening and our chef prepares specials daily. We also have a lunchtime menu consisting of lighter meals.

As well as just walking in for a meal, you can book a table for any lunchtime or evening to secure your table (large parties can be catered) Join us on a Sunday or Bank Holiday and enjoy our fabulous roast dinners! (booking is advisable).

The pub is open Monday to Saturday, 11am to 3pm (food served noon to 2pm) and 6pm to 11pm (food served 7pm to 9.30pm). Sundays the pub is open noon to 11.30pm (food served noon to 7.30pm).

We are very pleased to be able to offer accommodation in our hotel adjacent to the pub with 10 rooms (1 with disabled facilities), all en suite, with digital TV, Coffee and tea making facilities. Room tariffs are double and twin £65, single £50.

We are situated on the Dunmow Road (B184) in the village of Fyfield near Ongar in Essex. We are just 14 miles, about 20 minutes' from Stansted Airport. We have a large car park.
