Museums are great places of learning and wonder, precious items and handling collections. They have real items that tell a story and help us understand who we are and the world around us. Epping Forest District has a number of fasinating museums and more can be found just into our neighbouring districts.
As well as museums in buildings, we are very lucky to have living musems where you can not only see great things from the past, but watch them in action. These include the Epping Ongar Steam Heritage Railway, North Weald Airfield (home to heritage warbirds and other historic aircraft) and the Royal Gunpowder Mills which is itself a huge open air exhibit with buildings, machinery and even waterways with sunken barges.
Following on from planes and trains, transport continues to be a theme just over our borders with the John Collins collection of historic cycles in Harlow (at the Harlow Museum) and the National Speedway Museum in Broxbourne (at Paradise Wildlife Park).
