Alpaca Experiences

Based at Butler's Farm, Willingale, just outside Ongar, our alpacas are friendly, nosy and of course, adorable. We offer Alpaca Experiences where you can meet the alpacas, befriend them and take them for a walk! You'll find the experience calming and theraputic. Our Alpaca Experiences will start at Easter and run through until the end of October. For the current dates please check the appointment availability section on the left hand side of their Facebook page.

Meeting and walking with our alpacas is a unique and fun experience - buy someone a gift voucher or treat yourself!

Our 'Alpaca Experience' is a 2 hour visit to our alpaca farm and shop at Butlers Farm Alpacas - the visit includes:

- An introductory talk about alpacas - their origins and purposes, keeping and looking after them, understanding their characters and many endearing qualities

- Meeting our lovely alpacas, including youngsters and any newly born baby alpacas (cria)

- Learning about handling and haltering (and cuddling!) alpacas

- A walk around our farm with your own alpaca on a lead

- A visit to The Alpaca Shop to see the wonderful alpaca fleece and fibre products

- Refreshments (for guests and alpacas!)

Our Alpaca Experience is suitable for all ages of adults, and for children age 9 and over. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who has also purchased a voucher - under 16s will need to share an alpaca for the walking element - this is advisable for the elderly or frail too.

Our Gift Vouchers are open-dated for use during our 2021 season (which runs from Easter to the end of October) - you do not need to choose a date when ordering a voucher, but you can if you want to!

We send the voucher(s) to the buyer by email - so last minute purchases are fine!  Once you have placed your order, the voucher should be emailed to you within two days.

For experiences and events, we schedule the dates (weekdays and weekends) a couple of months ahead. 

To ensure the maximum enjoyment, we limit the number of people on each Experience - so it is essential to pre-book places.  Please contact us to book your date.

Vouchers can be purchased, and we also offer group bookings for alpaca experinces for special events and family/friends gatherings, as well as tours of our alpaca farm to Groups/Clubs, please call us on 01277 896565 or email info@thealpacashop.uk for details.

Weddings

As well as our farm experiences, how about inviting alpacas to your wedding? They would love to share your special day and enjoy mingling with your guests at your reception and posing for a photo or two!

Alpacas are famous for their very special wool. Visit our Alpaca Shop at the farm to purchase a wide range of products made from alpaca wool or alpaca related.
