Symphony Number 6 ‘Pastoral’ 4th and 5th movements - Ludwig van Beethoven

Have you ever been caught in a storm while you were out for a walk? 

Once the storm cleared, have you noticed how fresh and beautiful everything looks?

It almost makes it worth getting wet for!

The composer Ludwig Van Beethoven described this through music in part of one of his symphonies.  A symphony is a piece of music written for an orchestra that has several different parts, called movements.  Beethoven wrote 9 symphonies in total and his 6th is known as the ‘Pastoral’.

The Lark Ascending – Ralph Vaughan Williams

Have you ever wondered what it would sound like if you were a bird flying above your house?

What does it sound like close to the ground where you can hear the cars and people?

How high do you have to fly for those sounds to fade and the sound of the wind to take over?

Ralph Vaughan Williams wrote a piece of music called ‘The Lark Ascending’ that shows the journey of a lark as it flies up into the sky over the English countryside.
