Established in 1958, Smith’s of Ongar provides fresh, sustainable seafood that is famed throughout the South East
With a warm, welcoming fire, exposed brickwork and a cozy upstairs bar along with attentive staff, we have the perfect ingredients for a meal beyond compare.
Front of house staff at Smith’s are trained to the highest level with regular taster days of food and wine, as well as cocktail training from award winning mixologist Alex Turner.
Exclusively to Smith’s of Ongar is our own brand of Bitter and Ale, made in conjunction with Brentwood Brewery adding to the already unique experience that is Smith’s.
Priding ourselves on our motto ‘Famous for fish’ Smiths Restaurants is a name that has become synonymous with fine dining and quality, attentive service.
Our restaurant is located in Ongar Essex (just off the A414)
Our restaurant boasts an extensive menu of fresh fish that we offer to cook in a variety of ways to suit every palate. We also offer locally sourced meat dishes to accommodate those who prefer their food terra firma.
To compliment the quality of our food we have worked closely with well renowned independent wine merchants to ensure we have a selection of wines that are the perfect accompaniment to every meal. The only problem you may have a Smith’s is being spoilt for choice.
All of our seafood comes from sustainable sources ensuring that the fish you receive is of the highest quality. We work with small fishing communities with much of our seafood caught on a day boats and delivered daily.
Our master fishmongers then expertly prepare the fish onsite. For these reasons we are confident that the fish you receive is of the highest quality available.
