International concert pianist, Flavio Varani will give a short talk before playing Bach’s Goldberg Variations and works by Villa-Lobos.
Flavio was a featured soloist on Brazilian radio and TV at the age of 7. At 18 he won the Chopin International competition in Mallorca, Spain. This led to a distinguished global career performing at prestigious locations such as Carnegie Hall, The Moscow Conservatory and the Contignac Festival in France. He has performed with many famous conductors including Sir Neville Mariner.
In 2012 Flavio received the “Order of the Chevalier des Arts des Lettres” and was knighted at the Institute de France. The ‘American Record’ recently wrote of one of his recordings, “Sparks fly from every note. He is a master of his instrument”.
