Theydon Bois Donkey Derby

Please note that, due to the heat, the Derby will go ahead on the Green on Sunday (noon-4.30pm) - but without donkeys because of the forecast high temperature. There will be dancing, singers, vintage motorbikes and a Viking re-enactment in the main arena, fairground rides, sideshows, artisan craft stalls and a MG motor display.

Sunday 12th July on The Green Theydon Bois 12.00

Founded in 1987 by Peter Simmance as a way to raise money for the Scout hut, the Donkey Derby has become synonymous with the village. Money raised continues to go the local Scouts as well as Guides groups and other youth groups in Theydon Bois and surrounding villages.

A good ol' fashioned event with real donkeys ridden, and often fallen off of, by real kids.
