Come along to the first Epping Repair Cafe. Bring along your clothes, electrical items, computers, toys, small furniture, children’s bikes etc that you would like repaired. The aim of the café, is to reduce waste, help local people learn how to repair items, create a social space for people who like making and repairing things to meet and share their skills.
Did you know - there are 4015 Repair Cafes operating world wide and an estimated 60225 volunteers have, so far, repaired 72270 items so far.
The very first Repair Café opened in Amsterdam, on October 18, 2009. It was a great success and has now spread to many other countries. People who visit Repair Cafés are not usually customers of repair specialists. They say that they normally throw broken items away because they find a professional repair too expensive. At the Repair Café they learn that you don’t have to throw things away; there are alternatives.
