Dee Byrne is a saxophonist, composer and improviser based in London. Active within various original jazz and improvising ensembles, she has established herself as a unique voice on the UK creative scene and beyond.

Dee's ability to take jazz's most iconic instrument through a range melodic improvisations will show us a fascinating side of jazz that will open eyes and ears to new forms of the music, changing perceptions on a sonic journey.

Loughton-based National Jazz Archive says:

"We’re VERY excited to welcome Dee Byrne and her sextet for this perception-busting storytelling gig based around her newly released “OUTLINES” album.

Dee’s skills as an outstanding alto sax player are supported with an amazing band made up from some of the UK’s leading lights in cutting edge, free and improvised jazz and they’ll will be on hand to help us explore the edges of jazz …where melody meets improvisation in performance.

Our first foray into the world of free/improvised/live composition, this literally breath-taking live music event will demonstrate the NJA’s commitment to showcasing live jazz music in ALL its forms and we couldn’t be in better hands!

Be prepared to listen, learn and enjoy as we welcome

Dee Byrne - alto sax / compositions

Nick Malcolm - trumpet

Tom Ward - clarinets

Rebecca Nash - piano

Olie Brice - double bass

Andrew Lisle - drums

Another Great Fundraiser for the National Jazz Archive"
