About

The North Weald & District Miniature Railway (NW&DMR) is a 7 1/4" gauge miniature railway based in the grounds at the Harlow Garden Centre in Essex. Maintained and operated by an independent volunteer group. They operate a variety of trains including both steam and diesel electric and petrol hauled services all year on selected days and then Special Events including Christmas Specials in December.

Trains run on selected weekends, 12 to 4pm. Check dates here.

The Railway is located at the Harlow Garden Centre on junction 7 of the M11 motorway. 2

Construction of the line began in Spring 2019 and the first trains ran in September 2019.

Road Directions

By Car:  Travelling from the London direction, take the M11 North towards Cambridge, take Junction 7 for Harlow. The Garden Centre is situated on the south east corner of the Roundabout. (sav nav CM17 9LD)  Travelling from the Chelmsford direction, take the A414 west towards Harlow. The Garden Centre is situated on the Left hand side on the approach to the Hastingwood Interchange (M11 Jnc 7) 

Public Transport Directions

By Public Transport:  From Harlow, take the Central Connect 420 or 420A bus service from Harlow Bus Station towards Ongar or North Weald. Get off at Hastingwood Macdonalds, the Garden Centre is a short walk from the bus stop, all on pavements.  From Ongar, North Weald or Epping, take the Central Connect 420 or 420A bus service towards Harlow, get off at Hastingwood Macdonalds, the garden centre is a short walk from the bus stop, all on pavements.
